Taking a week off from the beloved podcast picks to bring you a list of my favorite ear reads this year, thus far.
If Women Rose Rooted (The Journey to Authenticity and Belonging) by Sharon Blackie
This book was so good that I bought the book in addition to the audio and fell asleep with it on my pillow.
Sacred Instructions (Indigenous Wisdom for Living Spirit-Based Change) by Sherri Mitchell & Larry Dossey
An absolute lesson in human compassion, understanding, and history.
The Testament of Mary by Colm Toibin
Meryl Streep narrates the darn thing, I mean come on. So good.
The Hidden Life of Trees
Be prepared to have your mind blown. I am quite serious.
Them: Adventures with Extremists by Jon Ronson
Of course anything by Ronson is worth an ear-read. Although a little out of date (2012), Them follows the rise of the extremism we see center-stage now. He spends time with leaders of the KKK, various conspiritists, and right-wing radio hosts. He really gets to know them. It is an inside look at what it takes to normalize fanaticism and dictate fear. It’s as informative as it is funny and terrifying.
